WHAT IS

KATA?

Kata is a choreographed sequence of specific moves that are designed to represent defending oneself against imaginary attackers.

KATAS IN SEQUENCE

There are 27 katas in the SSKA. Although you will learn them all over time, they are ordered. The first kata you will learn is Kihon Kata, but you will be expected to remember this and the other katas that you learn all the way through your grades, so Kihon Kata is just as important when you are a black belt as when you are a white belt. Please click on a kata for an example video.
